What is Building Bravery?
Building Bravery is a child- and family-centered practice offering Child Life Services, Exposure Coaching, and Eating Disorder Coaching. I support children, teens, young adults, and families through medical challenges, trauma, anxiety, OCD, grief, and emotional or behavioral difficulties.

What is a Certified Child Life Specialist?
A Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) is a trained professional with expertise in child development, trauma-informed care, coping strategies, and emotional support. Child Life Specialists help children understand medical procedures, manage stress, process grief and trauma, and build resilience through therapeutic play and education.
What types of services do you offer?
Building Bravery offers three core services:
Child Life Services: illness education, procedure preparation, coping strategies, grief support, trauma support, and therapeutic play.
Exposure Coaching: structured, gradual exposure for anxiety, OCD, and phobias using evidence-based techniques.
Eating Disorder Coaching: meal support, accountability, psychoeducation, and recovery-focused guidance.
Who do you work with?
I support:
Children
Teens
Young adults
Parents and caregivers
Each service is tailored to developmental level, emotional needs, and family structure.
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes. Many services including exposure coaching and eating disorder coaching can be provided virtually. Child Life Services may be offered virtually or in person depending on the situation.
Do you take insurance?
Child Life Services, Exposure Coaching, and Eating Disorder Coaching are not currently covered by insurance.
Building Bravery operates as a private-pay service to allow individualized, accessible, and flexible support without limitations set by insurance companies.
A superbill can be provided upon request for families who wish to submit for potential out-of-network reimbursement (if applicable).
How long are sessions?
Most sessions are 45–60 minutes, though this can vary based on the type of support needed. Exposure work may include extended or on-location sessions when appropriate.
How do I know if my child or family could benefit from these services?
Families often seek support when:
A child is anxious about medical procedures or a new diagnosis
There has been a loss or traumatic event
A child struggles with anxiety, OCD, school avoidance, or specific fears
A young person needs accountability or support during eating disorder recovery
Caregivers want more tools for communication, coping, or emotional regulation
If you’re unsure, a consultation can help determine the best fit.
How is Exposure Coaching different from therapy?
Exposure Coaching at Building Bravery is:
Skills-based
Action-oriented
Collaborative
Focused on gradual, supported exposure
Designed to complement—not replace—clinical mental health therapy
It helps clients practice facing fears in real-time while building confidence and competence.
What is Eating Disorder Coaching?
Eating Disorder Coaching supports recovery through structured guidance, accountability, and real-world support. It is nottherapy and does not diagnose or medically manage eating disorders. Coaching works alongside clinical treatment to help clients navigate daily challenges, meals, triggers, and emotional regulation.
